7 Ways to Start a Presentation
In this video, we are going to be discussing the best ways to start any presentation.
Let's face it. We live in a world full of judges. The sad reality: you are going to judged during your next presentation. Your audience is going to evaluate how you dress, how you talk, how your slides look, and they will put a lot of weight into your first and last impression. All of it matters, and if we had more time we would tackle each of these items one-by-one. However, since our time is short, we'll chip away at them in small chunks. With that said, we'll focus on the first and last impression piece this week and next week and then go from there. So, let's jump into it by tackling how to make a gr...

How did you install the software --- I have a macbook air M2 and just got the logitech spotlight presenter remote and can't get the software to install -- very poor directions by logitech --- thanks

  • @andre.brasil

I see a few problems with that device. The first problem is the USB A dongle. Several new computers no longer include USB A ports, and most cheap alternatives to the spotlight include double-sided (A and C) dongles. The second point is the software requirement. I make dozens of presentations a year, and it is sporadic to have the opportunity to use my own device to present. When I do, I usually will connect my iPad or iPhone and present from them (and the software is incompatible). I would buy this for time management alone, but once again it only works with your own computer, as you need the software installed. Pity.

I’m surprised you didn’t even mention arguably the biggest feature of this remote (and possibly the main reason why it’s so expensive), which is it’s mouse feature. This remote works like an air mouse, i.e: you can control your mouse pointer by moving the remote in the air and clicking on things just like with a mouse. This can be extremely useful if you have interactive elements in your presentations like clickable links, videos (that you want to seek back and forth), need to demonstrate websites or applications without using a mouse/trackpad or being next to your computer or a table. Your typical $50 clicker can’t do that, the extra hardware needed to support the mouse functionality, like a motion sensor, 3D accelerometer and a gyroscope, is what makes this remote more expensive. I understand the air mouse feature may not be important to everyone, but IMO that is the biggest differentiator of this remote (and the price) therefore, should at least be mentioned.

Can someone tell me if 2 spotlight remotes can be connected to the same computer and working at the same time? I would think this would work through bluetooth. We have very large classes with multiple presenters and to have at least 2 remotes would be great.

I may be somewhat old-fashioned, but many of the resources seem to be unnecessary. For me the spotlight is often distracting as every other thing is darkened while using it (there are spectators that might be interested in other pieces of data), and if we are using zoom, maybe we should have planned better the slide presentation. So at the end, I rely more often on the good old laser pointer, as I can give some directions without interfering too much on the presentation.

@@simonhunter834 And with you master! Enthusiasm is every positive trait all in one, it's all I want to think about... it's the master key to everything why develop individual virtues when you can be enthusiastic and encompass them all at once? The person with the most enthusiasm is the best at whatever it is they're doing, if not at the moment skill/experience wise they soon will be..cause they're in the most effective and creative process, Mr. Beast here on youtube is the best example right now, observe well his interviews and see that he is 99.9% enthusiastic even when he is considering a negatively posed question, it's the same with anyone who is the best they got there cause they had the most enthusiasm, i was the best at one or two things so far, and guess why it was enthusiasm i had the most fun my rate of learning and adapting was jacked into outer space it's like hey guys i'm not smarter you're a genius too i'm just more enthusiastic about this (called it fun at the time, really close but wasn't there yet)

Actually we have developed a unique smart presentation pen AC03 with multifunctions (such as spotlight, magnify, micphone, touching writing, etc.), which controls google slides or other presentation software when speeching or teaching. dYou can skip all of this and design directly into Powerpoint. For icons and simple vector images, download SVG files from Nounproject.com for free (with crediting), insert into the PowerPoint slide, ungroup the object and you can directly edit it and colour it like you would a vectorised object in Illustrator using the colours from your customised colour palette. It's also transparent, loses no quality, and is super light on the file size. Then just use the shape tool to create the other objects. Easy! If you have a predesigned Indesign file to convert to PowerPoint, pdf the design fro Indesign, open the pdf in Adobe Acrobat then export it as a powerpoint - it gives you most of what you need as editable objects in a new powerpoint template. It's a much quicker place to start from. Forget Photoshop. The exported files come out as pixels, uneditable and increase your overall file size.
